In his role with Dunbar Residential Investments, Jim Hammersmith has overall responsibility for the firm’s acquisitions, dispositions, and asset management activities. Through the course of his career, Jim has been directly involved with the acquisition, disposition, recapitalization, or development of more than $1.7 billion in real estate investments.  

Prior to joining Dunbar Residential, Jim held the position of Senior Manager of Acquisitions & Dispositions with Western National Group (“WNG”), an Orange County based vertically integrated multifamily firm with over 21,000 units owned and/or managed. Prior to WNG, Jim was a Senior Financial Analyst with Corinthian Development Company, a developer of hospitality, retail, residential, and entertainment projects. Earlier in his career, Jim worked in acquisitions at The Bascom Group, a private equity real estate firm with a primary focus on value-added multifamily throughout the Western and Southeast United States.

Jim earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from San Diego State University in 2009 and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) with an emphasis in Real Estate and Urban Development from the University of California, Irvine in 2018.
